All artists quickly come to understand how important foundations are to any and all artistic endeavors. As a painter, I've taken great pleasure in exploring foundational concepts of life & art.
Canvas, ground paints, and stretcher boards are basic elements for many painters. I've used these elements not just as tools, or as means to an end (only covered over by the finish product), but as essential aspects in portraying concepts. In these works, the function of the painting supports play as much a conceptual role as any particular subject matter.
Functional differences between animate and inanimate objects is another foundational concept I've explored of late in my painting. Instead of using canvas supports in such a prominent fashion, this work draws on traditional painting methods of pictorial representation.
In keeping with foundational elements, I recently began a series of works on monetary systems for an upcoming book due out later this year by former U.S. Treasury analyst, Richard C. Cook, called "We Hold These Truths: The Hope of Monetary Reform".
I write , sing, and compose tight cutting edge rock that combines many influences of goth/glam/hardrock and metal all blended together to give me my own unique style.
To me songwriting is like painting a picture I like to create moods and emotions with the colors of sound.
